French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Indonesia has highlighted the deep and meaningful partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France goes beyond symbolism, reflecting a real and strong cooperation. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta during his visit.
Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the importance of collaboration in various areas, including the economy, technology, security, and culture.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been maintained for 75 years, with significant strides taken over the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, highlighting advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda.
Cultural exchange was also a focal point for Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the warm welcome and expressed optimism for further collaborative efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
