Hamdan Hamedan, Senior Advisor at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), addressed the Indonesian diaspora at the Diaspora Global Summit 2 in Jakarta, outlining President Prabowo Subianto’s five flagship programs. These programs, such as Free Nutritious Meals, Free Health Checkups, People’s Schools, the Merah Putih Village and Urban Cooperative, and the Three Million Homes program, are designed as an integrated policy package. The goal is to intervene from the crucial First 1,000 Days of Life to help citizens achieve full economic independence.
Illustrating this integration through the story of Ani, a young girl from a modest family, Hamdan showed how these programs benefit individuals from birth to self-reliance. Ani received Free Nutritious Meals even while in the womb, which ensured proper nutrition and prevented stunting. Through attending a People’s School, Ani received academic instruction, healthy meals, health checkups, and character education.
Ani’s father also benefited from financing options through the Merah Putih Cooperative, which freed him from predatory lenders. With stabilized income, the family was able to purchase a decent home through the Three Million Homes program. President Prabowo’s vision is to break the cycle of poverty and build dignity for all citizens.
The Indonesian Diaspora Network–United (IDN-U) President, Professor Herry Utomo, welcomed these initiatives. He stressed the importance of programs like Free Nutritious Meals, People’s Schools, and Free Health Checkups in fostering healthy, educated, and prosperous societies. The diaspora community is ready to support and contribute to the success of these programs.
The presentation highlighted that these initiatives are already in progress and will continue to be strengthened with measurable targets to eradicate extreme poverty. The goal is to fulfill the promise of eliminating extreme poverty and creating a better future for all Indonesians.
