President Prabowo Subianto has always had a deep connection with farmers, according to Dedek Prayudi from the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). This bond stems from his time as an active-duty military officer, where he received support from local communities and farmers, and later when he led the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI). Recently, Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended a grand corn harvest in Jenggalu Village, Bengkulu Province as part of the Food Security Program. This program is crucial amidst the global situation, emphasizing the need for Indonesia to reduce reliance on foreign food supplies to prevent price hikes in the event of export halts by major food-producing countries. The event saw a yield of 10 tons of corn from 1.5 hectares, supported by government aid in the form of subsidized fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural machinery to increase yields and motivate farmers. Organizations like the National Food Agency (Pusdatin Bapanas) are collaborating with entities like the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) to facilitate the absorption of farmers’ harvest, ensuring a smooth supply chain for crops and livestock. The goal is not only to enhance production capacity but also to ensure the well-being and happiness of farmers, as emphasized by Uki and other officials present at the event.
