President Prabowo Subianto has set an ambitious goal to extend the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children nationwide by the end of 2025. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), he emphasized the program’s importance and urgency. Prabowo recounted a touching experience from his visit to Central Java, where he encountered enthusiastic support for the program from schoolchildren, teachers, and the community. Inspired by this, he directed his team to expedite program delivery, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August and ultimately 82.9 million children by December 2025.
Prabowo highlighted the global attention this initiative has garnered, with leaders from other countries showing interest in learning from Indonesia’s approach. Despite the optimism surrounding the program, he stressed the importance of delivering tangible results and invited accountability for the promises made. The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a key component of Prabowo’s broader vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities, ensuring that every child has the necessary nourishment to thrive and succeed.
