Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, took a moment to reflect on the prestigious Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru, which was bestowed upon him by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on November 14, 2024. During Boluarte’s official visit, Prabowo shared this memory at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta, emphasizing the strong diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Peru since 1975.
In return, Prabowo honored Boluarte with Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, recognizing her significant contributions to fostering bilateral friendship and cooperation. The reciprocal gesture symbolized the hope for continued growth in the partnership between the two nations.
Apart from the ceremonial exchange of honors, Indonesia and Peru signed cooperation agreements covering various sectors such as narcotics eradication, combatting illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense. These agreements highlighted the commitment of both governments to working together for mutual benefit and progress.
