Bali – The President-elect and Vice President-elect, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, will continue the Indonesian government’s commitment to global water management.
This was announced by President Joko Widodo while opening and introducing Prabowo in front of the delegates of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) 2024 in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday (20/5).
“On this fine occasion, allow me to introduce the President-elect of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, who is currently serving as the Minister of Defense, and who will continue Indonesia’s commitment to contributing to global water management. Thank you, Mr. Prabowo,” Jokowi said, receiving applause from the guests and delegates present.
In the Asta Cita (8 missions of Prabowo-Gibran), there is an emphasis on programs to improve nutrition, clean water, and community sanitation to address the threat of stunting or malnutrition.
Meanwhile, for clean water provision, Prabowo-Gibran plan to enhance water absorption programs and build water retention basins, including the implementation of clean water piped systems to ensure the availability of clean water uniformly across all regions.
It is worth noting that while serving as Minister of Defense, Prabowo has actively collaborated with scientists from the Defense University (Unhan) to establish clean water points.
There are a total of 120 new water source points provided to communities in Maluku, NTT, NTB, and several provinces on the island of Java such as West Java, Central Java, Banten, and Yogyakarta.
Furthermore, the Prabowo-Gibran administration is committed to achieving water self-sufficiency by continuing support for drilling water sources in remote areas, revitalizing river basins, and implementing water piped systems.
