MAKASSAR, RAKYATSULSEL – Muhammad Ikhwan and Darmawan Denassa, two recipients of the Kalpataru award in South Sulawesi, are supporting simultaneous tree planting activities in commemoration of Earth Day, initiated by the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Bahtiar Baharuddin.
The simultaneous tree planting is seen as an effort to build collective awareness among the community in preserving the environment.
Darmawan Denassa, the recipient of the Kalpataru Award 2021, stated that Acting Governor Bahtiar has shown his commitment in preserving and improving the environment through tree planting activities that are not only economically beneficial but also help in improving the natural conditions. For example, through the simultaneous planting of breadfruit and Cavendish banana trees.
“Governor Bahtiar has shown exceptional concern for the environmental conditions. Especially since environmental degradation has become a global issue, not just in South Sulawesi,” said Darmawan on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Through the simultaneous tree planting initiative by Acting Governor Bahtiar, it is hoped that South Sulawesi can become a pioneer in efforts to improve the current environmental conditions and even serve as a national example.
“I highly appreciate and support what the Governor is doing,” said the Founder of Rumah Hijau Denassa (RHD) in Gowa Regency.
It is known that RHD has been established since 2007 as a 1.1-hectare conservation and education area located on Jalan Borongtala No.58 A, Tamallayang, Bontonompo, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi.
