PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir officially inaugurated two FIFA Arenas in Tangerang Selatan and Jakarta on Tuesday (6/5/2025). Erick Thohir expressed Indonesia’s pride in making history in the development of world football with FIFA. The launch of the inaugural Football for Schools program by FIFA in the country, marked by the inauguration of two FIFA Arenas in Ciputat and Daan Mogot, has put Indonesia at the forefront in providing football field infrastructure for children through schools, according to Erick.
“I appreciate FIFA for implementing the first Football for Schools program in Indonesia. This not only shows confidence in our football potential, but also in PSSI’s efforts to build a strong foundation for a robust, inclusive, and sustainable sports ecosystem,” said Erick Thohir. The launch event of FIFA Arenas in Ciputat and Daan Mogot was attended by senior FIFA delegates, FIFA Council members, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education.
Indonesia has been honored by FIFA as one of the first 11 countries to launch the FIFA Arena. “I appreciate the government’s support through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education, because FIFA Arena not only promotes the sports aspect but also plays a role in building the character, traits, and mentality of children as the nation’s future through football,” he added.
